For example, if Panasonic is offering a $200.00 dollar rebate, you would still purchase the camera at full price from your Panasonic dealer. When manufacturers do this, they are usually banking on two important results. ONE, it will increase sales due to the more attractive pricing. And, TWO, that many will neglect to submit their rebate information.
It's really pro-pro for everybody.

And, it only happens in a competitive market economy. In other words, it only happens in the U.S.
