DVX100B - play function not working

Help! I have gigs lined up for the inauguration and suddenly the DVX tape deck is not engaging in play in either camera or vcr. Tape will fast forward/rewind but will not "play" in VCR; and in CAMERA - the tape appears to be recording, but timecode does not advance, only reads 00 00 00.

That sounds terrible =[ It seems like something that needs to be sent in to get fixed.

can you still record? If so, then do the events and play back on something else

yeah the weird thing is that there is no error message when I am recording despite the fact the tape is not advancing (no hearing gears, no timecode, no "play" back).

Check your mode.
You might be in the wrong one- for direct to disk (DTE) or slave.
I'm not near my camera or manual right now- but it could be in there.

It's one of the Menu choices.

thanks. you were right - the mode settings got scrambled during a loan. I'm back in business.
