I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I was curious from exp film makers which one would you think is a better buy? Both have strong reviews.

depends what you want to do really

i have had both cameras and in terms of low lighting and picture clarity dvx100 knocks off sony hvr a1u in water. but with hvr a1u having 1080i hd ability, if your subjects are well lit, its a great camera. In low lighting its terrible

One of the things I loved about hvr a1u is that if you shoot out doors and want to grab b-roll footage, you can grab the camera in your hand just pan it around making ur shots something like steadicam.
