Hey, Whats up Everyone...My first post on this site...and looking for some advice...

Time has come for me to purchase my own camera...I've shot on both the DVX100's and HVX200 extensively...but hesitate to buy the HXV thinking that an updated NEWer model may come out soon and blow the HVX200 out of the water...and I dont need HD capability at the moment...

Does anyone know of an updated HVX in the works...how it's supposed to stack up...?

And should I go for the DVX100B while I wait for Panasonic to put together a better version of the HVX...?

ANY help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated...

Thanks!

The HVX200A was announced at NAB in April.

If that's all you're waiting for, then the HVX is going to be the better choice in all ways except 480/60i and maybe half a stop of low-light performance.

i just got my 200a a few weeks back. i've been shooting on a 100b for going on 2 years. i'm not sure how extensively you've shot on either camera, but i say 200a all the way. if for no other reason than there is no excuse not to shoot with the 200a every single day. have an idea for a cool shot or something you want to try? pop in a p2 card and your good to go. and no more capturing. not to mention us late adopters of the hvx get a 16gig card right out of the gate. no more tapes. of course the tape deck is there if you need it. it is sooooooo worth the money. not to mention it seems like the floodgates opened up in the marketplace forum. there are tons of second hand hvx's out there. no question in my mind.

side note, i considered just picking up a second 100b. soooooo glad i went with the hvx. the georgeous hd picture, and the variable framerates. those sweet sweet variable framerates. mmmmmm.

my 2 cents.

if you don't need tape at all, this may be worth the wait. from available information i don't know if "blow the HVX200 out of the water" applies, but the waveforms will be nice. i wouldn't mind picking one of these up too. it will make a nice companion for my scarlet.
