dvx100b moire/aliasing

Are you sure it was shot in 30p? It sure looks like 60i to me.
I can see it in your camera moves. If it was shot in 30p, maybe you should
double check your timeline settings.

I'm positive about 30p. What and how should I check in the timeline? Sorry guys, it'm my first week of doing video...

Chroma sampling

Chroma sampling

The reason behind the aliasing might be chroma subsampling. In case of DV format the color is not sampled for each pixel of the captured image. There's only one color sample for 4 luma samples (pixels). The result is the jagged edges between high contrast neighbouring colors. You can reduce it to some extent by using chroma blurring. There are some deartifacting plug-ins doing this (you might want to check G Nicer or Magic Bullet). My experience is that you can achieve similar or even better results by simple chroma blurring or applying the median filter to the chroma. If you have Adobe AE you can do the following:
- create the adjustment layer over your video
- apply the blur or (better) median filter to this layer
- set blending mode to 'color' for the adjustment layer
This will apply a filter to the chroma information effectively interpolating (oversampling) the chroma information which will reduce the jagged edges artifacts.
Don't expect anything spectacular, though. The best you can do is to dress your actors and arrange the locations/lights properly so that there are no high-gradient colors.
