DVX100B Model Names???

Hello,

I just received my first DVX100B that I ordered from B&H. I have a question that might sound a little dumb but I am a little confused by it’s the model name. I ordered Mfr # AGDVX100B (B&H # PAAGDVX100B) from B&H, however the paper work says that the B&H# is PAAGDVX100BJ, the box says AGDVX100BPS, and the camera says AG-DVX100BP.

What’s the deal? Any ideas? It’s a “P” after the model number usually for PAL? I just want to make sure that I am not getting a PAL version or a “B” version of the cameras.

Has anybody else noticed this or have one with the model #AG-DVX100BP?

Thanks,

Bryan

The "P" is *not* for PAL. Or at least not for all PAL models, because the one you get in Europe is called DVX100BE ("E" for Europe).

I would suspect the "P" stands for "Pacific" and "J" for "Japan". I also think "N" is for "North America" and have no clue what the "S" stands for ("Super-duper" ?).

That's interesting... I have never heard of "P" being for "Pacific". I wonder way it wouldn't have a "N" then. What are your model #'s on the viewfinder for your 100b's?

Pacific, as far as I can tell, means NTSC because all the big NTSC countries border the Pacific ocean, don't they? U.S., Japan, Canada, etc...

On a side note... As I am looking through the camera and settings. They really hidden the function to switch formats from 60i to 24p. Is there a shortcut?

It says AG-DVX100BE on my viewfinder. The "N" models, if I remember correctly, are for North America (USA and Canada, NTSC).

You may be right Barry, but I seem to remember that "Pacific" models are PAL ones (for Australia, NZ and the like). But as regions and TV standards are so intertwined, I'm really not sure. Hey, wouldn't that be a good topic for an article ?

Go into the Menu > Scene File and scroll all the way down to Frame Rate.
