DVX100B LCD Screen Rez?

Just purchased a 100B (have used a 100A for the last year). It's stated that the LCD screen rez is a slight bump over the 100A. On my unit, it's nowhere close to that. In fact, the 100A looks noticably better. Using EVT DTL on the 100B still doesn't make it near as sharp as the LCD on the 100A. Also the color saturation is a lot better and more natural on the 100A. This is not just my eyes, but several others who have looked at it as well. Anybody else notice the same?

Don't have a 100A here to compare against the 100B, but I'd say that I sure didn't notice what you're referring to as far as color saturation etc.

As far as detail, you have to keep in mind that the 100B is showing a lot more of the frame than the 100A does. So there are more pixels in the LCD (10,000 more) but the overall image is displayed smaller because it's fitting more image into the LCD. The 100B is showing the full underscan frame, whereas the 100A only shows the overscan frame. As such, the 100A is showing a more-magnified image, which obviously would let you make out a little more detail. The 100B is showing more of the image. That would automatically make it a little less sharp than the 100A's LCD, so the small (5%) boost in pixels helps compensate for that.

The viewfinder is where you should see the big difference. The 100B's viewfinder also shows the full frame, but it gets an additional 50,000 pixels to do it with.
 
I noticed that there are some light lines running horizontally throughout the LCD frame on my 100B. It does no record that way but it is annoying in low-light situations. Not sure what to make of it. I can deal with it, just kinda sucks.
 
I compared another 100b to ours, and the LCD screen isn't as sharp as the 100A, so it's not our unit that's the problem. I don't suspect the the under scan/actual LCD, as the numerics from the display are "softer" than the 100A as well. I suppose we'll live with it, you just hate to see something take a step down with a supposed "step up" model.
 
seeing underscan is a hudge step up, even if it isnt as sharp. The eyepiece is much larger in rez, use that to focus and the LCD to frame. Id replace my A with the B if I could, but the money I would loose from my A thats only 5 months old isnt worth it.
