I was under the impression that there is no tax due to the free trade agreement... can anyone confirm that?

bullshit..i think u hvae to pay the GST on it...so basically it wont make much differnee if u buy it in canada or in the us..cuz it'll cost the same after all is said and done..leos is selling the dvx100b for 4299

Leo's right. If you can get a competive price in Canada, you're better off. If you purchase from a shop outside of Ontario, you will only pay GST, and shipping will be cheaper. If you order from the US and have it delivered to Canada you will pay PST, GST and a broker fee. Depending on the shipping company, brokerage fees can be very expensive, particularly if they're calculated as a percentage of purchase price.

Best bet for Ontarians = Competive out of province sale, in Canada.

Now as a good citizen you will of course self remit your 8% $320 bleeping sales tax right?

Hey Gabiii,

I'm just to the east of you and I'll likely be going to DVShop for my pair of Bs in April.

They have the 100B for $3900 CDN with a 2 year extended warranty. That's a helluva deal.

I'd consider Leo's except BC is a bit far for me to send my money. But that's just me. No offence, Dave.

If Leo's can best that price then more power to you. Go where the best deal is but keep it in Canada. The USD/CAD exchange offers minimal, if any, advantage. You will pay the GST & PST and if they ship by, say, UPS, you'll get reamed with brokerage fees as well. I found that out with a super 8 cam I got on eBay.

I hope this helps a bit.

sincerely,

ian

Hi there, I'm new here (in fact, this is my first post), but I'm in Ontario as well and wanted to add another nod to the DVShop. I recently bought my 100B from them, and not only do they have a good price and the free extended warrenty, they also have really good, knowledgable customer service.

Just thought I'd add in the $.02 of someone who's actually purchased from them.
