dvx100b help please

I just got my DVX100b and i know this a total newb question but how do you capture the footage into Sony Vegas 8.0a (NLE). I just wanted to know so i could get started.

And what are the heads on the DVX100b and whats the deal with the capture cams. What's there price range. Thanks in advance for all the help.

well i dunno how it works with vegas as im on premier pro, but you need a fire wire cable that can connect to your cam and the computer. Hook the camera to your computer THEN turn it on. Open vegas, and you should be able to go, file capture or something of the sort (someone who is more familiar with vegas can fill in here) and then you should be able to hit play and record on a window that pops up. (at least thats the way it works with adobe. As far as the heads go, they are the little drums in your camera that put the image on to the tape. Over time these can become worn down from repeated use and thats were the capture cam comes in. Its just a cheaper camera that you use to capture the footage to you computer to prevent wear on your video heads. Any MINIDV camera will work, i use a canon zr80 that no longer records but plays back and captures fine. Look around on ebay and you can pick up something for around 100 bucks most likely. like i said hopefully someone who is more familiar with vegas can help you out with the capture stuff....
