(I wasn't sure exactly where this post belonged, so sorry if it needs to be moved)

I was wondering if anybody knew if the new DVX100B has gotten rid of the chroma-patterning (the watery bright reds, for example) problem?

Thanks,

Actually...

Actually...

I'm pretty sure this is a DVX100 only problem because I had an XL-1 before I ever bought my DVX and it handled bright reds just fine. Plus, according to Adam Wilt, this problem is unique to this camera.

no, it is actually a DV codec problem, which will happen with any camera that captures saturated reds or blues. I have seen it in some one chip cameras, the XL2, the PD150 and DVX. It seems to be most prevelant in the DVX becasue it is cabable of such saturated colors, but by applying a slight chroma blur filter, the problem is taken care of.

I shot with the "b" today and it handled the reds better than my "a" I will post a grab soon. There is also less noise in the blacks and IMHO truer colors.
