DVX100B For Cable Commercials??

Has anyone here shot any local Cable Commercials with the DVX100B?

If so, how was it? What did the local cable station need from you and do you have an example?

1) Yes, use the DVXB all the time for local spots & everything was fine.

2) Depends on the network but they are all pretty well general specs needed, (30 sec bars & relevent tone, 5 sec black video then 30 sec ad).

They can take it in quicktime or BetaSP.(some networks will take miniDV).

I deliver server compliant Mpeg 2s. They go right into the cable inserters and deliver everything via FTP.

Almost all Cable companies play their spots back from an automated insert server. Most of these are MPEG 2 playback servers. When you send a Beta SP tape to a cable company they send the playback through a hardware MPEG 2 encoder and then move that file into the server.

Regional cable companies are notorious for not really knowing what their doing.

The few that I work with, I have gotten their mpeg stream profiles from. data rate etc and I encode my files directly from the Avid and I FTP it to them and it is already formated for their playback system.
