DVX100B Footage

nice nice image!
im wondering how you got such clean night shots...was the place lit up? I have to hit the gain button a lot of the time and it really kills the shot.

Please share how you got those beautiful shots!

P.s. I really liked that timelapse of the clouds above the domes...did you use the method outlined in barry green's book for that?

always amazes me... the way this camera delivers
looking forward to see how you pulled off those night shots
nice work!

I got 2 questions :
1. were you shot in 24P ?
2. were you using any special camera stapling devices or just hand-held only ?

Excellent work. I am very interested in the settings you used for both of your vimeo wedding videos.

That was beautiful. Those shots were amazing. Could you maybe give some scene settings for those first couple of outside shots? Once again, amazing. Good Job!

First of all I am using a PAL camera.
I filmed in 25P
I never use any GAIN as it gives a lot of noise.. but I film in 1/25 shutter speed. This way I get better light and smoother slow motion.
I position the camera always on a tripod.
I am careful not burn the images and I do a color correction in FCP.

About the sow motion:

I let the camera recording the clouds passing behind the Opera House for 15-20 min....
Then I speed up the footage in FCP with Blending fields ON.

An advice that I want to share with everyone..

I was often making the mistake of using the big monitor of the DVX100B in direct sunlight.
The problem is that the monitor looks dark and I was intend to open the iris. THAT WAS A BIG MISTAKE.
It's very hard to valuate the aperture in direct sunlight...
The best solution was to use the small viewfnder and use the zebra pattern in 100%.
I open the iris as much as the 1st zebra pattern appears and then i close just a little bit until the zebra pattern is gone.
This way I have a great dynamic range. If some dark areas looking dark.. I turn on the backs a bit in post.
This way the sky looks bright blue.. the colors are nice and the footage looks great.
