Hi,
I've recorded my footage using the 24pA with Squeeze format and was going to edit it with the copy of Final Cut Pro i have, version 3. I understand that i can adjust the capture and video setting but i know that it doesn't have the full capabilites like the DV NTSC 48 kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown removal Capture preset or Sequence preset of DV NTSC 48kHz - 23.98.

I think i am able to turn on SOME of these attributes, but not all. To the experts out there am i out of luck and need to get a new version of FCP, or is there something i can do with what i have till then?

Thanks for any help!

Russ

FCP doesn't remove pulldown, so you'll either have to remove it in Cinema Tools (if you can), or edit in a standard widescreen DV timeline. The footage will be treated as standard DV (60i).

Keep in mind -- you shot 24pA, and you're not removing pulldown, so the pulldown pattern may make the footage have more strobe than it would if you had shot 24p standard and edited as straight DV.

When you say FCP doesn't remove pulldown, do you mean my version (3.0) or any version. I ask because, searching on the web for optimal Capture/Sequence presets, it mentioned a Capture preset of DV NTSC 48kHz Advanced (2:3:3:2) Pulldown Removal. That's why i was thinking i'd have to get a newer version of FCP because i had shot the footage with those attributes.
