DVX100B - Clunking Sound in Viewfinder

(No, this is not the OIS issue)

I bought a DVX100B a few months ago (the initial test footage shoot when I first got the cam went fine) and finally pulled out the Barry Green book last night to familiarize myself with the cam for an upcoming documentary shoot starting this month.

However, I noticed that whether the cam was on or off, a clunking sound (different from the OIS sound with the cam off) came from the viewfinder when I tilted the cam up and down. It is a feint clunk, but not feint enough - the built-in mics picked up the clunking sound about half the time, even with very slow tilts. I believe it is the diopter that is loose. I can spin the dial to the max in one direction, which tightens the diopter, and the sound goes away completely, though of course the viewfinder is completely out of focus. If I spin the dial to the max in the other direction, the sound is much worse.

Has anyone else run into this?
