DVX100B CINELIKE Gamma & Knee

Hey, new DVX100B owner here. I read that in previous models, CINELIKE gamma (not V or D), had no Knee, it just went to 100 and clipped. Is this still true on the B? It says Knee is Auto when CINELIKE is selected.

I am going to be shooting outdoors on Friday, with a lot of hard sunlight. I'm thinking of going with CINELIKE, as long as it has a knee. CINELIKE_D seems too noisy, and CINELIKE_V perhaps too high contrast to be used in bright sunlight with hot highlights and dark shadows. I'll use CINELIKE and if it's too flat in the end, I'll add contrast in post. Does that sound like a good compromise?

Also, in regards to the MATRIX setting, CINELIKE matrix seems to make all the colors pop. I'm not sure how this is "cine like?" It seems kind of arbitrary. I'm actually going for more of a muted look, and would like to maybe make the greens and yellows pop in post color correction. Is there really anything particularly "cine like" about CINELIKE color matrix?

(I'd ask fewer questions, but my DVX Book hasn't arrived yet.)

Thanks,
Josh

cine like D is for dynamic range, so althought it may be noisy, havent really seen it for my self, it gives you the most latitude and range from the lights to the blacks.

and yes the colours should look more muted from cine like D, i.e. flatter picture because there is more range, makes sense?

Knee is a way to control how the highlights are handled; in regular gamma modes you can choose low/mid/high. In cinelike gamma modes you don't get that choice; the highlight handling is fixed for cinelike-V and cinelike-D.
