DVX100b Canadian pricing

It has occurred to me as I have been shopping for my Panasonic DVX100b that canadians are getting the shaft. I don't know why the pricing between us and the states is so different but it is. With the new $400 rebate being offered in the States I expected some kind of pricing change here, nothing so far. Not to mention that the United States buyers get the magic bullet editors and we don't (which is worth about another $300). Anyone have an ideas why this is the case?

Hey Glen,

There are a couple of reasons that the prices appear better in the US. The first is that a lot of the DVX100B models for sale in the US are grey market, meaning that they are not imported by panasonic. Often these don't have warranties in the US/Canada and their displays/instructions are in another language (often Chinese). Many of the sellers are crooks, especially many sellers in Brooklyn NY (no offence to my Brooklyn brothers), and you may not even get what you ordered. ALWAYS check out online sellers on resellerratings.com. Also, read some of the thread here on this topic.

Some rebates are only available in the US. You'd have to check with Panasonic to see if they'd honour them in Canada as well.

The best price I've seen for the DVX100b in Canada is through DVShop.ca. It is presently selling for $3900 with a 2 year warranty included ($200 value). If you live outside of Ontario you probably wouldn't have to pay the PST. If you consider the exchange, duty, taxes and shipping, it's probably equivalent to what you'd pay if you bought a DVX100b from a LEGITIMATE seller in the US.

Hope that helps!
