DVX100b audio monitor problem

I really don't think I'm over looking anything obvious, but if I am, feel free to tell me I'm an idiot haha.

So, I plug in my headphones and heard nothing. Checked the - and + buttons on the left side for the monitor volume clicking ' - ' just to see where the level is and level is stuck all the way down and the ' + ' button won't bring it back up. Is this just the button being broken? or am I over looking something?

I had the same problem with my DVX100B - but noticed the audio levels in the viewfinder/LCD were OK -

so I re-inserted the headphone jack a few times, and got the audio back -

haven't experimented any more with it - don't know if it's just a loose jack/plug combo or something more..
