DVX100B arrived minus Barry Book/DVD?

Just recieved my spanking new dvx100be in a box wrapped in more layers than pass the parcel, after shedding the layers and diving into the box i was eagerly searching for the book/dvd and tore the box into even more pieces before realising that it was not included!!!

From reading around on the forums here i was under the impression it is bundled out with the new cameras, is this something i should be taking up with the company which supplied me with the camera or simply need to purchase these from the website here?

Thanks
Ben

Your camera should have had a letter in it noting that there was a website to log into to register your camera. If not please tell us the model number of the camera as is it on outside of the box.
These only come with US cameras and the model number on the outside of the box will tell us whether you should have a letter from us thnaking you for your purchase and giving you directions on how to get the The DVX Book and the Magic Bullet.

Hope this helps,

Jan

Hi,

I just noticed that you are from Australia. This is an offer in the US only as we have a huge gray market problem here and this strategy seems to keep it under control. So if you are in Australia, and looking for delivery of these items to Australia, I am sorry that is not the program. Doesn't mean that you shouldn't purchase Barry's book as it is excellent and will help a lot.

Best,

Jan

I was under the impression that the new 100b only came with the $200 rebate, does it now include Barry's book and Magic bullet? :D

you see thats what I dont understand, what exactly is gray market. Not quite black market? So gray market cameras are chinese sweatshop knockoffs, or are they the same cameras made by panasonic.

All 100B's in the USA include a $400 rebate (new as of yesterday!) and The DVX Book/DVD and the Magic Bullet Editors software.

Gray Market means a seller has gone and imported units from some other territory and is selling them in the US. They are usually products from the Canada or Japan or some other NTSC country and do not carry a USA warranty, nor do they qualify for any of the freebies or rebates.

Gray market product is Brand name product that is brought into the US by some company other than the manufacturer. This is not illegal, the federal government thought this would embrace free enterprise. The problem is that what is paid for with the proceeds from any sale of product by the manufacturer is the marketing, and warranty service, etc. The gray market is only possible on a money exchange, which if you hunt around you will find that some come out looking cheaper, but most will not really sell it to you for that price. I mean I tried to buy a DVX100B for $2399. The wouldn't deliver it for that, I needed $accessories and $350 in insurance for shipping and, and, and.

Point is that the gray market product does have a warranty, it just doesn't happen to be in the US.

Currently we are shipping directly from Japan to the US dealers, this is new and in the box will be a congratulatory letter telling you where to register your camera for the Magic Bullet and the DVX-Book. That will also register you for the $400 rebate. If you receive one that has the Book and the Magic Bullet in it then all you need to do is register for the rebate. If you have not Magic Bullet and no DVX Book, and no congratulatory letter, then you most likely have a gray market product.

Hope that helps,

Jan

BTW: Love your sig Jan ...

I didn't do that Jarred did that. ;-) I mean he really is in control of this whole thing and I guess I am grateful he didn't get more creative.

Fun lot these guys,

Jan

There are no counterfeit ones, if that's what you're asking. But the warranty is not cross-territory, so if you import one from Japan you won't have any warranty coverage in the US, etc. Nor will it qualify for any of the rebates or incentives that Panasonic US offers.

yea thats what I meant. I have a legit US DVX, but I remember the worry I had when I bought my old PD150 and I thought it was grey market, thinking it was a knockoff. Know I know what grey market realy is, real panasonic cameras just without promos or US warranties. Realy not as bad as I thought it was, sure you want a warranty, but these things are so well made that if used right they wont break down within the measly one year parts/labor that most companies provide.
