Dvx100b+35mm adapter

I got bored, wanted to shoot something, so shot some footage of my gf putting makeup on in the bathroom. It was good to see how the adapter would hold up using just the lights from the bathroom.

This was with the ed35 tweeked w/ a redrock 55mm achromat. Static. Canon 50mm f1.4 FD lens. Tweeked blacks, whites, and mids in fcp's cc just a little trying to get rid of what I feel was noise and/or grain issues from the low light conditions, or the adapter, or both?

My question to you guys is: Should I be investing in a "professionally made" adapter?
And any critiques on the footage is welcomed.

Mahalos.

Screen grab on a dissolve. I'm bored and I thought it looked cool.

The footages seems a bit soft to me. Not sure if you focused correctly or if its because of the 35mm adapter. Or then again...it is 1:30am right now so it could be that I am sleepy as hell

i don't mind softness at all.. i've seen many good films that are way softer than that. (aronofsky - talk about diffusion!) it's just personal preference i guess.

but it was very grainy and it's impossible to tell if it's the adapter or the low light conditions that cause it. i also just made the ed35 (but don't have my dvx yet)

do you have any footage in good lighting (preferebly outdoors) so we can see how it looks?

that was better. still grainy but considering the price of the ed35, it's still amazing.

btw, i just noticed your videos are 16:9. what method did you use for that?

I'm looking foward to testing out the adapter outside w/ the redrock achromat. I shoot everything letterboxed 24pa on the dvx. Dr. Divx software gets rid of the letterboxes.

yea the achromat is going to be way better than that crappy asian glass. would love to see footage when you get it!
