i just had my stuff on ebay but i ended early because id rather not deal with them, to many scum bags. people wanting my password telling me they cant pay me unless they have my paypal email and password. i also got the i cant pay you unless i have a tracking number. anyway, i thought this would be a better place. i just copied and pasted the ebay description.

dvx100b 15 hours bought in march 08. I'm selling because the firewire port is blown. if you do your homework you will know that the firewire ports on these cameras blow out very very easily. i am including a small cheap camcorder to use as a tape deck so you can transfer the footage you capture using the dvx100b. this also saves the heads on the camera so even if the firewire port wasn't blown its still a good idea to use a separate tape deck to capture to save wear and tear on the camera. also comes with the head cleaner for the dvx100b. a rode nt3 mic, rode shock mount, and windjammer are also included. not pictured is the proper cables and battery chargers needed for all equipment is included. also ill throw in a blank tape still new (dvm60me jvc master quality) the ones i been using with the camera so far. experienced camera ops know the deal. when i package the camera ill be putting it in a soft case so that's also included. the nt3 rode mic has about 3 hours on it.

$1600 plus shipping - dvx100b 15 hours with cheap camcorder

UPDATE: nt3 mic, shockmount, windjammer sold.

theres no warranty on the camera. as far as grey market goes, im not too sure. i can show you the pic of the serial number if that helps any. also, i have a pic of the serial number and lcd showing hours in same pic. any other pics you want i can show you in email. the camera has only been used indoors, behind the scenes stuff. i captured the footage i shot on camera. so the hours are really half n half. any other questions just message me.

I'd say that's a pretty serious problem. If there is no DV interface, how would one import the file to the edit suite or use on location? The idea of the spare unit to FF or RR the tape is fine and for cueing up scenes but to capture from it....not sure on that one.

I may be interestd still but I am completly unaware of any firewire port issues with this camera in general which you indicated was a widely known fact. How did you manage to blow the port? Is it blown or physically damaged? Did you purchase it new or used in that condition?

Thanks

nah just look around, its pretty common that people do use cheap minidv camcorders for capturing there footage to computer to save wear and tear on there camera. in fact its highly recommended by alot of users to use a separate tape deck for capturing. it takes a simple search to see that alot of users have experienced blown firewire ports from plugging in the wire when the computer and camera is on. i bought the camera new and it blew just recently. its just blown not physically damaged from being dropped or anything. money isnt an issue so its a little inconvenient for me to lug around more than i need to so i do capture from the camera. i use 3 dvx100s for behind the scenes on my feature and i like to use as little as i can. specially being the director i like my workers to be able to work with ease. if you can relate to my experience than look elsewhere. if its your first camera or you need a b cam than its not a serious problem at all. its a great camera in awesome condition that will guarantee you impressive results. regardless of a blown firewire port or not you should use a separate tape deck for capturing your footage to computer. the camera should have 7 hours give or take but since i captured using the camera it now has double head wear and hours. just my 2 cents

How did the firewire port get blown--not working or mechanically damaged. Where did you pruchase it from? How long ago?

it was blown plugging in firewire with the camera and computer on. its just blown, doesnt work. i saw some of your posts i see your looking for a camera. i just sold this today for 1300. friggin steal. best of luck

So the cheap camera for capture is included? What is the brand of that camera. I agree completely with your EBAY experience--it's hopelessly infested with crooks--most unfortunately!

Got the mic... it was just like new! Tested out great. Very smooth transaction, as promised & shipped FAST.

Thanx Portlandbozz! I'd buy from you again anytime...

You stated in part that you are selling it beacase the firewire port is blown that sounds like some serious motivation, and concern for any purchaser. There are other uses for the port than just capture to PC. For one, capture to a portable drive with programs like ON LOCATION--at a live shoot---that's just my two cents!

hey guys, yea some guy did purchase it but im waiting for the check to clear. if it doesnt clear i will get back to you guys with an update. ill put it back up for sale

im aware of the uses for the port jkb, but it shouldnt be a concern for the purchaser becuase i put it out there that it was blown so its up to them to know what they will be using the camera for. you dont buy something knowing you wont be able to use it in a particular way you intended to. you dont buy something without having some knowledge about the products uses and exactly what your looking for in it. its common sense. like i already stated in an earlier post, just look elsewhere.

infinity - no trades i have enough cameras as is
