DVC30 while a nice camera (really like mine) is quite dated, if you can afford it get the DVX instead. HV20 VS DVX is a bit different, if you get the HV20 youll sacrifice good manual controls and low light abilities but gain more resolution and real 16:9. Anyhow you will be doing some compromises
Whats your total budget? The dvc30 could save you some serious money that would be useful for htings like lights, audio eqpt, tripod etc... All of these things can be rented too though just depends how you are wanting to go about it all.
I'm strongly considering the HV20 myself, as locally it's under half the price of the DVX, and still has 24P which I'd really like (plus the HD option of course)
