DVX100avsPD150 stills and sample of my work...

Ok, I'm very new to this board, but I like it already and I just got my DVX100a today...I decided to test it out a bit at 6db factory F6 setting 24p against the PD150 at 6db 60i...I found the DVX to have a richer image...you can also note loss of detail in the bright and dark spots of the 150...although the sony had a less grainy image, i still without question liked the DVX image better...please note this was a very simple test...

also, I thought I would share a sample of my work. unfortunately it is not DVX footage, but I look forward to sharing DVX footage in the future...This footage comes from weddings and is shot with PD150,VX200, and TRV900 sony cameras...I am 7 months into the process of shutting down my wedding business and moving my wife and I out to LA.
The vignette effect on the shots where done in post and ended up being very dramatic with compression...although I wish I had made it far more subtle even for TV...oh well, live and learn.

Chris,

I just wanted to compliment your wedding demo. Extremely nice work. Welcome to DVXUser. I too am a long time Sony user and recently got my first DVX100A. I'm loving it and learn a lot from the people on this board.

Good luck,

Andrew,

Thanks for the compliment...sony makes great products, but I think Panasonic hit the nail on the head with the DVX100a...

Chris, nice work :D How did you do that very impressive time-lapse? Good luck with your DVX100, you already have a good eye for composition.

Thank you, We were out doing a wedding at the bride's parent's summer mansion that sits on the water in easter shore MD...and I looked up saw the beautiful sky so I put up my back up VX2000 and recorded for 30 minutes untill the sun set...just set the camera manually to what looked good and of course the light naturally became darker ;)

well done. impressive stuff! very nice camera movement. do you use a camera stabilizer for the moving shots?

Re: DVX100avsPD150 stills and sample of my work...

thank you :)

The greatest majority of my work is handheld, i've been toying with the idea of getting a stabalizer, but i think I would not be able to do what i do as fast as it sometimes needs to be done at a wedding...so i think as i now move away from event production and have more time to plan the shots, a steadicam as such would be very nice.

Nice work C-Mac. I just have one question. How did you make the couple dissolve while they walked down the stairs in the church? They disappear, but the background remains. That was very slick. It's about two-thirds into the video.

Re: DVX100avsPD150 stills and sample of my work...

thanks, all you need to do is roll some footage with the empty scene. then just fade out the scene with action into the empty scene...in this case i just set up a hidden camera (TRV900) before the ceremony and let it roll all ceremony long, just for that shot :)

chris
