DVX100a Zoom control: Suggestions

ZOOM buddy Anyone know this controler?

ZOOM buddy Anyone know this controler?

Hey Bena,

Thanks for info do you have one? Or know if it is good or not from other users? Price would be great if it worked ok? Anyone else out there know anything about this product?

Manfrotto also make a small simple unit that attachs to the pan bar and connects to camera via the "pseudo" LANC input. Works well and is well built.

Functions :Rec stop/start , zoom

Model: 521P

I have the Zoe-DVX. I did a little research and for the same price the Zoe had better features than the Manfrotto. You have to go the next step up in price for the Manfrotto to have the same features. I bought it to use with DVrig Pro. The combination works great. You can program the zoom speed with two dials. There is a review on of the Zoe for use with the XL1s on the DVinfo forum. It is similar except for the focus control because the DVX does not have a lanc control and the Canon does.

I have the stealthDVX as well. It does the job but....it's still a bit rough on starts and stops. I've got the original DVX100 though and don't have a clue how it would work on the 100a? The zoombuddy looks like it will do it and for the price...it's nice!

Hi,

I actually am making them. I use one myself and I am very happy with it. A bunch of others have bought 1 from me, their comments are on the website. I am sure you could pm them about it to find out more. Let me know if you need their user names.

Sorry, I don't think that link works, look in NEWS in this site for this

Handmade Zoom Control with Record Start/Stop

All the guys I know are using the Zoe zoom controller and love em. I have 2 DVX-100's and use the Varizoom Stealth controller which is about as good as you'll get for the original DVX. It just isn't capable of the much slower zooms of the DVX-100 A

manfrotto

manfrotto

someone knows if the manfrotto can change the speed of the zoom? How does it works?
thanks

Yes that is the link. Jarred, as usual seems to have come up with the goods fo anyone who is a little handy at basic soldering

Yes the manfroto has digital zoom control, it takes a couple AA batteries, u have to turn on the digital zoom otherwise its still the normal speed of the camera, the digital zoom overides the settings and allows anywhere from slow creep to a fast zoom...

Just bought the manfrota 521p and I'm not very happy with it. Not very smooth at the starts. I'm trying to ship it back to b&h today (maybe get the next model up).

Ben-- how are the starts on your home-grown model? Can you make one that has a set speed to slow?
