I had a shoot with my camera last week and it performed perfectly as usual. I put it in the case. Today I turned it on and it will not focus. It seems to be stuck in Macro. The auto focus does not work nor does the manual focus. ( the distance numbers do change in the viewfinder) I did not drop, abuse or knock it around in any way. It was stored in it's Portabrace case. Any ideas what's going on? What is the procedure for getting it serviced. I bought it at the first of the year at B&H.
I had the same or a really similar problem this weekend on a shoot. The camera would focus only at a middle zoom but as soon as you pulled out it lost focus and you couldn't find it again, manaually or using the auto focus. If you went back to the same original middle zoom you could get it in focus. Of course when I turned on the camera the next day to show a co-worker it was working perfectly. But, I'm affraid this will happen again...
Joe, did you ever get this fixed? Anyone else have ideas?
I had a shoot recently where I slipped and banged the front of the camera on a chair, not too hard, but enough to cause a problem like you were explaining. It seemed to be stuck in macro. I turned it off and turned it back on and it was fine. Did you try turning it on and off?
