Hi,

I don't know if anyone has asked this question or not,
but I want to buy a panasonic dvx100a camera and I'm not sure if I should buy the
dvx100b ? or the older model 100a?
The salesperson telling me the B line is better?
I'm totally confused ...
Are there really huge differences that would justify pating more money?

Any feed back would be appreciated

Since $500 rebate has supposedly expired for the 100a (as it was said to on the 31st) then it will cost the same as a new 100b with the $200 rebate. In that case i would get the 100b

The differences are minor. The biggest i believe is the abiliby to view a 16:9 image while recording, as opposed to it being "squeezed" on the 100a. If you plan on shooting a lot of widescreen footage, this may be important. I think it is.

I am in the same situation as you and i think at this point i am going to get the 100b since the rebate isnt valid... However, there is some unclearity on whether the rebate for the 100A is still in effect. I havent seen anything offical from panasonic on it being extended, but, B & H still has the it up on their website.

Out of curiousity, what company were you talking to?

UPDATE: The 100A rebate has been extened until Dec. 2005... making our decision even harder now... in a good kind of way.

So Michelle, if you want to save about $300 or maybe more, I'd get the 100A

Hum?
Thanks - I'm thinking of buying from B&H loacl to me - I'm in NYC.
I have to check into the rebate issue. I'm going to B&H to see what they have to say.
I read on the boards that the rebate was extended to dec 31?

Good luck

dvmichelle...check your PM. Also, the differences in the 100A or 100B are minor. If it was a difference in $500.00 I would definitely say go with the A. Once you have it, you will forget all about the 100A vs. 100B controversy and that extra money can buy you a nice mic.
