dvx100a used, just a quick question

I found someone local selling a dvx100a for $1450. There has been 270hrs of audio recorded and less than 15hrs of video recorded. The camera was stored in his house at all times and never really taken anywhere for a shoot. My question is, is it a big deal having 270hrs of audio recorded with the camera? I'm pretty new to the Dvx series, I use a Sony vx1000 at the moment. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Does not sound like a bad deal. I would check out the camera first. would not buy online without touching it. I bought a brand new DVX100A for $1800
2 years ago so you may just be able to save up a few more dollars and catch a brand new one.

Thats what I was thinking. I was leaning towards a vx2100 but comparing prices and specs It doesn't seem like a bad idea to spend the extra 300 on the dvx100b.

Really depends what you want to use it for. if you're making films then dvx is the way to go. besides 24p, it has 2 xlr mic inputs, the whole kit and kabootle.
now that i think about it, i dono why you would buy a vx2100 over a dvx100b.

270of audio.. lol... thats 270 of video as well... u are recoding to tape right.. so doesnt matter if the lenscap is on its still recording black to tape..
save up a few more and buy a enw unit or check your local craigs list and ebay
or dvinfo.net

Thats what i was thinking. Is it anyway possible to record just an audio feed though? such as hooking the camera up to a computer and not having a tape in?
This is actually off of pittsburgh craigslist. I'm also wondering why he spent that much money on a video camera when he could have spent it on a low end protools setup.
