Hi everyone,
Not sure if I can post this here. I work at Lorne Lapham Sales and Rentals in Vancouver.
We just received pricing on the DVX100A cameras last week...I still haven't got a definite answer as to the ETA. I have been calling them every couple days. We have a number on (back)order. I'll add to this post as soon as I know more.
Expect a street price increase of $300-400 over the DVX100. I assume I can't post pricing/package specifics here, so I can be emailed at brian@llsr.com to answer any questions.
Hopefully a better update this week.
Thanks all,
Hey Brian.. nice to see you around here. Not to sure if you remember me we rented a Anamorphic adapter from you for Art History a few months ago..
Anyhow.. I was told Panasonic Canada only have 10 units in stock at there Toronto warehouse as of today, and I imagine they may be gone by tonight. Panasonic Canada's recommended price for the A is $5,675 CAD...
Anyways, heres some info from VidCom if anyone else is looking for the camera still:
Good day DVXuser.com members,
Our company - VidCom has already sold and shipped a number of the new AG-DVX100A. Thank you Jarred! These units are a bit more expensive then its predecessor; however, they have some new features I know you have been looking for, such as:
- Enhanced Progressive Mode Functions: Auto Focus, gain up (+12dB max), and a colour bar display have been added
- Improved Colour Reproduction: Optimized colour separation optics and a new high-performance lens that uses low-dispersion glass combine to capture vivid, faithful colours
- New Cine-Like Gamma Curve & Enhanced Image Adjustments: New modes have been added to the gamma curve and matrix setting. New V-DTL Level, Coring, and Knee adjustments have also been added
- Slow Shutter Function for Higher Sensitivity & Dramatic Effects: The slow shutter (accumulative mode) drops the shutter speed to 1/4 sec, 1/6 sec, etc., for high-sensitivity shooting and dramatic, frame-by-frame like effects
- Smoother Zooming & Focusing: The operating feel of the manual zoom and manual focus ring has been further enhanced. You feel virtually the same natural resistance as when using a conventional professional lens
- Focus Assist & New Recording Mode for Improved Ease & Versatility: The viewfinder features a B/W display mode and detail (PEAKING) function for easier focusing. Threee user assignable buttons (USER1, USER2, USER3) give you instant, one-touch access to three setup functions. A new 15-sec interval recording mode
- New Squeeze Mode for 16:9 Recording: The AG-DVX100A provides high quality 16:9 recording in letterbox mode, the new squeeze mode, or with the optional 16:9 conversion lens (sold separately)
Panasonic Canada recognizes these units are in high demand and have placed a special order to meet your demand. We currently have stock in this model.

Man excited isn't even the word! ;D He called and told me it's on it's way here!!!!! I feel like a fat kid on Christmas upon hearing Grandma is bringing over her famous cheeselog...
Yes Kris from Vidcom worked hard to get us the cameras somewhat early, and the store is just down the street from us. They can ship to Canada and the US
Is it a smart move to buy a DVX100 now or just wait till the DVX100a comes out in a few weeks. I am all set to buy the DVX100 Im just wondering if the new one is worth the wait.
I just brought a DVX100E because it will still be a couple of months before the "AE" hits the stores.
I spoke with a panasonic rep who said that - the standard model will not go down very much at all & that the new model will just be an extra £200 pounds est.
I figured that the features added would not hugely benefit me since I am relatively new to the world of pro DV - but I think that most stores will just sell the dvx's off at a slightly cheaper price - in the next few months - but I would'nt hold my breath for half price or anything :-/
It all depends on stock - my local store had 5 left & I just could'nt wait any longer - I just dont care anymore - its a great cam - - choose life - choose a dvx - choose art - forget money.
Yes.. I hooked Kai up with the man that has em ... The states for some bizarre reason though seems to be taking a week or two longer. However, they do ship to the states so if you really cant wait, you can order them through them.
