Hi guys, I am new to the forum and about to purchase a DVX100A - hopefully from EVS. I am confused about some of the posts I have read. Some say that the DVX100A comes with a stock wide angle lense. Is this true? Thanks to anyone who replies!
Chasen,
The lens on the DVX100/100a is equal to 32.5mm in 35mm terms, while the standard lens on other DV cameras is generally about 40mm. Adding the supplementary wide angle adaptor to a Sony 170, for example, gives the equivalent of about 28mm...only a bit wider than the stock Pana lens and with more barrel distortion (straight verticals that bow outward) at the edges.
I find the stock Pana lens just the right focal length at wide angle...covers tight rooms with minimal barrel distortion .
Hope this helps.
Ken
