DVX100A Side Microphone Mount Missing

Does anyone know if Panasonic's (#vyc 0890) mic holder adapter will help me connect my Azden double barrel shotgun mic/shockmount (SGM-2X)? The upper handle of my DVX only has two small screw holes where it would attach and with using the hot shoe, the mic dips downward a bit from its own weight (in addition of giving up a connection for a light). I'll also have to figure out the 2 screws that are necessary with the adapter. Adapter is over 30 dollars on the Panasonic site and I would like to make sure it would work. Thanks if you can help!

Already have that shockmount (came wih microphone). Trying not to take up the hotshoe on top of DVX and still mount to upper handle (which is missing adapter and the two little screws next to hotshoe. Thanks though.

If you go to this link: http://www.controleng.com/media-lib...l-networks-and-cyber-security/ed80ef8d31.html You'll find a sample of my work and my email address. Let me know where to send the gadget.

What will probably happen though is that it can't support a mic that long, as you've already noticed. The Panny one it's designed for is pretty short, apparently. I've had both Azden and Rode shotguns, and have seen the problem firsthand. That's why I don't use that holder.

Thanks! Yes, the Azden SXM2X does dip down a little when on hotshoe mount (about 1/2 in. maybe). So a long shotgun like the Azden I have would probably dip down about the same on the other (side) mount you say? I'll check out your site and maybe try to contact you. Thanks so much for your help!

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. I think you'll find using that side mounted mic holder for a shotgun mic that long will be somewhat problematic. Good luck though!
