DVX100A -> Premiere Pro = vertical jitter?

I am trying to capture footage shot on the DVX to Premiere Pro via Firewire. I notice that when I have the capture window up and the video playing or paused, the video on my screen appears to shift up and down by 1 pixel, every second or so.

Has anyone else experienced this? The video appears fine on the DVX's lcd, but anything captured off the DVX shifts up and down which just looks terrible.

I don't know if it's a driver thing, a camera thing, or a Premiere thing. I don't have another program to capture with, so I'm looking for ideas...

The camera settings don't seem to affect this...whether 30p or 60i, the jitter is still there on the computer.

Any thoughts?

is the jitter there on playback? if not than i wouldnt worry about it. its probably just a video overlay issue from the capture window.

Yeah, that's the problem. I shot a sunrise a while back, and the clouds floating across the sky towards the sun appeared to jump up and down a little as they moved. Pretty much wrecked the shot. I just shot a closeup of a dart hitting a dartboard and the whole dartboard is shifting up and down 1 px.

For the sunrise shot, I did time-remapping in AE to speed it up, and then the jitters were REALLY noticeable. So it is in the captured footage.

I take that back. It's not in the dartboard footage once it's captured. I must've had my settings screwed up shooting the sunrise. :-[

Must be an overlay issue.

Thanks for the heads up! ;D

shrike, I've encountered the same thing with PPro on my system. As you have already determined, it's not in the captured footage nor in the editing displays so I pretty much ignore it. I see the same thing with my Sony cam. It was not there in Premiere 6.5.
