DVX100a, Premiere Pro 1.0, and AE 6.0

Good day to all!

My name is Derrick, I live in South Africa.

Please allow me to ask a stupid ameteur (that's me...) question.

I have the honour to rent the DVX100a for a shot in about a month and a halfs time. At the moment I only have a cheapy Single CCD Panasonic DV Camera.

I would like to know what is the workflow you guys follow.

WHen I look at your video clips, the video looks very very smooth (like eg. deinterlaced ?)

I should probably shoot in progressive mode?
I like the professional film look of the clips. I understand lighting and camera angles have a lot to do with it, but my footage always looks like having interlaced lines no matter what I do !

I am making two video clips (approx 1 min long) with this camera, they are going to be burnt to DVD for a stagetheater production.

What settings should I capture this footage with, should I interpret the footage, should I deinterlace it? Should I finish the clips before i do anything ?

Any help will really be appreciated!

Thanks,
Derrick

Hi derric, PAL or NTSC? anyhows just make sure you are using the F6 option on the little dial at the back of the cam next to the battery and that would give you the progressive film look you should be using this camera for. Then just capture to Premiere and make sure you are using the no field options is checked on all the prefs. I gotta say thay an hour spent with the manuals if probably the best way to invest your first energies. Then just hop around these posts with the search for any doubts you may have on particular subjetcs. 8)

Thanks for the reply,
I have never used this camera, so I am reading as much of this site as I possibly can to get do's and don'ts.

I was thinking of renting the camera for a day a week or so before the shoot and spend all day with the camera and hopefully learn to use it almost properly!? It's $140 (R855 (south african rand) day to rent it.

Also I would probably be best of to use and ND Filter since the shots are outdoor ? Is that statement correct ?

Thanks again!
Derrick

you will have to play, & like I said read the manual . . . . even oline (google it). as for the ND well the camera will tell you on screen when it thinks it needs an ND & for proper exposure it is always right, might want to teak, but the cam sees things quite well ;)
