dvx100A or 100b?

Hello, just looking for a little help before i go ahead and splash months worth of scraped together wage.

Okay, i'm aware that this topic has been covered all over the place but i'm looking for some first hand feedback here. Basicaly i'm trying to decide wether to buy a dvx 100a 2nd hand for £1000 (with allegedly only 46 hours on the drum) or a brand new 100BE for £1600.

Now the barrage of questions:

-Do the the differences between the models justify the price increase (Camera will be used for mostly factual/documentary projects),

-Plus how well does the dvx cope with age/use, as my experience of using 2nd hand and heavily used rented cam's (such as pd 150's etc) has usually encompassed at least a shot per shoot with dropped frames or artifacts.

-how well does the anamophic mode turn out (with it's diminished resolution) when displayed on proper sized screens (28 inch and over) i live in europe, and 4:3 is just not a viable professional option over here anymore.

-The Canon xl2 is still an option because of the native 16.9, (i have used this cam in the past and liked it despite the consumer esque controls and crappy viewfinder), but what it comes down to is which cam produces the nicest image, any oppinions?

any advice from dvx users will be greatfully appreceated.

1) Yes, IMO, though the 100A is perfectly capable.

2) Those dropped frames or artifacts probably have more to do with the tape used or the cleanliness of the heads than the age/amount of use of the camera.

3) Looks almost as good as with the anamorphic adapter or the XL2.

4) "Nicest image" is subjective. The XL2 can be sharper, but Panasonic has mojo the XL2 doesn't have. Up to you which one you like better.
