Thought I'd share some fun Ohio Universty Video Production students are having down in Athens, Ohio.
I apologize to those that feel this might belong on DYI, but I feel this was some serious on the spot problem solving to get the desired shot.
When we got to the tracking shot that would follow the two characters through the office as they talked about the boss, the director and I felt this would be a prime opprtunity to try a long Steadicam shot with the Steadicam JR. In the past we had used the on board mic and tried to limit our shots to setting instead of dialogue since the DVX(no mic) is right at the weight limit for the JR.
We needed to get the dialogue and still have the DVX balanced on the JR as a walked backwards down a cubicle hall with the conversation. The hall was too narrow for a boom op. After some thinking I had someone grab a roll of gaff tape and

Was it the best solution? I got the shot and had a lot of fun that day. Beats a term paper.

It ended up being more of a challenge keeping a light touch on the gimbal while dealing with the extra XLR and counterweight taped to the side of the LCD.
I wasn't crazy about the shot but I didn't want to use anymore of the day on it, so after four takes we shot a saftey handheld and moved on.

As for sound results, they were surprisingly good! We had to take out an industrial AC system we had no control over in Soundtrack Pro, but other than that I was pleased.

I posted up the results if anyone is interested.

Shot looks decent too, though you can definatly see you fighting the cable. Cables suck. :(
