DVX100A no headphone audio

Was on a shoot yesterday with my DXV100A. I've had this camera for a short while and for the first time I plugged in headphones I noticed that there was no audio coming from the headphone jack. I turned up the volume using the buttons which in turn turned up the headphones. I don't remember this being the case with the original DVX100. Now I'll have to get used to this annoying echo delay with this model. Any tips on how to deal with this?

The only way to eliminate the delay is to buy some really nice headphones that isolated you. That way, all you hear is what's coming from the cans.
