I Just recently (4 days ago) recieved my M2, I'm in love with it. Today was my first day shooting outdoors. I had been waiting for the sun to come out but I couldn't wait any longer, I had to see what this puppy could do. I'm still getting used to the camera and adapter setup while trying to focus without a FF. Unfortunatley the first day I take my camera outdoors it starts raining so the whole clip is from inside my car with the windows up.

all shots were with a 50mm Nikon f/1.4 Dvx100A 24p F6 mode. I shot in letterboxed mode because I really wanted to try out the whole uprez workflow. I'll try that next, this footage is just raw. I'm also still adjusting to premiere pro 1.5 and trying to export properly, that's what I get for doing all my previous editing in After Effects.

Yes, I have the 15mm rod setup. I really like it so far. I'm still trying to get the backfocus as close to perfect so that will take more tweaking. The M2 is easy to tweak and the GG inside is removable which is a huge plus. I like how long the rods are too, all I need now is a Follow Focus since it's pretty hard to do a stable focus pull without one. It's possible but takes alot more time. Using this setup, I realize if I want to do handheld shots I need some sort of harness/handgrip/ or steady cam.

Tav, really awesome, congrats on your setup. Really has a filmic quality.

I've been considering a lens adapter but I'm on the fence about which one to choose. The Cinemek looks much more simple, but it's not available yet. My big concern is with sound. Have you tried taking any M2 footage with sound? If so, does the mic pick up any hum from the M2?

Storyteller32, Smithhouse, Thanks alot.
The audio in the footage is actually from my car stereo(compressed in PP1.5), I was listening to a cd while shooting. As far as the M2 hum, it does have a slight hum to it. If I was in doing a real production I wouldn't use the DVX100a mic since it sits above the m2, If you use a shotgun mic or boom mic the hum defintely wouldn't be a problem, but It is also possible to use the on camera mic to get great audio without a noticable hum. The hum from the M2 is quieter than the ambient wind in the environment. At home I was watching the sound meter when I flipped the M2 on and it wasn't registering any hum, This puppy is pretty darned quiet. I'll play the audio through my production monitor speakers and see if I can hear the m2 humming.

Oh yeah, how did you deal with the image flip issue? In the shots of your rig, you're showing a flat screen monitor. I'm guessing you're using that, but what did you use when you were in the car? The magnet trick?

Joey b, Thanks. The music in the video is from a group called RunawaysUK track #9Sanctuary Part II . From the album Progress.

Storyteller32, in the car it was tricky, I just rotated the lcd screen so it was facing forward towards the dash that way I had an image that was right side up, but it was still kinda strange to shoot like that since i had to lean forward over the lcd screen. I haven't yet tried the magnet trick, I have a small magnet but I'm not bold enough to tape it to my camera yet. The forum still seems pretty divided on the magnet trick. I plan on using (borrowing from a friend) a smaller portable dvd player that I'm going to just flip upside down, it uses batteries.
