DVX100A Firewire Question

Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum. I guess post count would give that one away. I just purchased a Panasonic DVX100A and love how light weight the thing is. This one was in excellent condition and I got it for less than a grand. Everything seems to work perfectly with the exception of one problem.

I connect the 4pin to 4pin firewire to from the camera to my HP DV6000 Laptop with a 4pin DV connector and it I cannot get Adobe Premier or Windows Movie Maker either one to pick up the camera.

AP tells me that No Capture Device Found and WMM just does not recognize it at all.

So the question I have is.. Does the DVX100A come with a driver or something?

Here is what I am trying to do..

Turn the Panasonic 100A onto Video mode, open AP and then try and capture. I have everything set to Panasonic in AP but it still tells me the same thing.

The camera is not recognized no matter what I do.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. This is my first Pro line camcorder.

My others had software that came with it.. This one did not.

Thanks for any help you can offer. I know thier has to be someone out here with a 100A

Should be no driver necessary, and you don't need to be in VTR mode. Is this XP?
Hi, I am running windows7. A friend of mine that is running a Panasonic 170 said that I should try and use windows movie maker just to see if it connects..

I tried and it is still no recognizing the 100A

Thanks for any help.

I just thought I would update everyone.. I was trying to connect from the DV on my Panasonic DVX100A to my HP Laptop computer. No luck..

I am running windows7.

I purchased another computer running Windows XP and connected my camera and it connected perfectly..

So I am not sure if it is a Windows7 issue or what the deal is..

But the second I plugged in my camera running XP, it automatically picked up the device and worked perfectly.
