I am confused on one thing and was hoping that someone could help me out. The main difference between the dvc80 and dvx100a is that the dvx can shoot 24p and the 80 cannot. my question is:

can the 80 shoot 30p and how does that compare to 24p??????? if i am on a budget is it smarter to get the dvc80??? thanks.

Re: DVX100A---DVC80

The DVC80 does not shoot 30P either. The DVC80 is a very nice video camera, but it is not a filmmaker's camera. It's competitive with the Sony VX2100 and PD150, but it's not really an alternative to the DVX100. The DVX has many nice features that the DVC80 doesn't have, such as 24P, 30P, external DV device control, zoom and focus readouts in the viewfinder, cinegamma, all sorts of stuff. You may want to look at getting a used DVX100, it should be about the same price as a new DVC80.
