Happened to me, but luckily the ribbon didn't rip on me. I cant tell in the picture but is the ribbon ripped?

If the ribbon is still in good condition, carefully inspect the socket where the ribbon was inserted then release the hinge on socket then re-insert it the ribbon--lock the hinge and reinstall or tape the mic back into the shell, AND HOPE TO GOD IT WORKS. MAJOR REPAIR OTHERWISE....
BEST OF LUCK..

are those two strips supposed to be together? shi*...
how much are the repairs?
I think they are two different ribbons, I don't remember. I really can't tell in the picture, but if there is anyway you can connect the ribbon to something inside then you should be fine unless you damaged the ribbon cable itself. In the picture it looks like you ripped the end right off it tho, so all you will need is a new ribbon cable, and I don't know how much they run for. Maybe call up panasonic, or call up Video Electronics and see how much it is to fix it.

bump, anybody know if a place can just replace the torn ribbon cable and reattach the microphone?

RE: broken mic

RE: broken mic

Same thing happened to me but the ribbon did not break. Can you buy the handle assembly and make the repair yourself? The mic "head" is attached to handle assembly by 2 small screws which are inserted horizontally, one on the right side and the other on the left side. The handle assembly has the two holes that the screws insert in. I don't use the built in mic often but it doesn't look very professional when you show up for a freelance gig.

Turns out the ribbon cable never was ripped/torn. some shop just put it back together. and I agree with you on the on board mic..just got my mic and its so much better than the stock mic.
