I just purchased a used DVX100A and every time I connect external audio to the camera (lav, boom) and then play back the tape on a one chip camcorder to digitize into FCP, the audio is really low (almost as if I was only using the camera mic). Even after I captured the footage, the audio was still really really low when I played it in FCP. However when I play back the tape on my DVX100A, the audio sounds super clean.
So then I tried to digitize the tape using the DVX100A, but FCP won't recognize that camera.
Can anyone help? Is there an audio setting on the DVX that I might be missing? Why would the audio sound great on the DVX, but sound crappy on another camera? As a side note, I've used my one chip camera to digitize tapes shot on an XL1, and playback always sounds good, and I've never had problems.
Thanks for any help! I'm wondering if I bought a broken camera...
