DVX100A as transcoder...

Hi all...

I've been using an old Datavideo DAC-100 to convert analog tapes into DV, and it seems the Datavideo unit has given up the ghost. In a pinch I began running the analog signal through one of my DVX100A's, and it seem to work quite well. I'm wondering if there would be any advantage of purchasing another standalone converter, or maybe even a Decklink card, or whether I'd be doing just as well to keep transcoding with my DVX100A.

Thanks for any input...

I see no problems with it.

The other devices may have some small advantages, but I wouldn't say anything major. I may be wrong though.

I wouldn't say that it adds wear and tear to your camera. If all you are doing is pass through then you aren't wearing anything out.

I have seen cameras left on for weeks at a time and they are still chuggin along just fine.
