DVX100A 24P and the DV2500 deck

Greetings - new here, and I was hoping someone has the answer to what I thought would be a simple question. I have the DVX100A, and am looking for a deck--the DV2500 seems like a good bet. Anyway, the DV2500 PDF file I got from the Panasonic website says you can link the deck with the camera for recording. The deck takes the large format tapes, so in a situation where you can't change tape, the extra length of the larger DV tapes might be useful.

My question is, will this feature work in all of the recording modes of the DVX100A? If I shoot 24P or 24Padv, will this translate to what the deck records? Has anyone tried this? Would this work in the field with batteries? The info from the website doesn't really say anything about batteries, just 12V - DC, and AC100V-240V.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome !

Don't know that deck, but the 24P has a pull down that happens internally before recording to tape, so I don't think it will work through firewire or S-video outputs. Anyway I didn't tried that, just thinking...

It will work exactly as you want it to. Any DV deck would do what you're asking -- be controlled by the DVX, and record 24p/24pa/30p/60i.

Don't know about field operation. I have the same deck (in the JVC variant) and while the power supply does say that it's DC output (and the deck takes DC input), it's obviously an AC/DC converter. Presumably if you had a DC power supply at the proper voltage and with a connector of the proper polarity, it'd probably work battery-powered.
