Well Im almost at my money goal and soon enough Ill be able to buy either a DVX100 or a DVX100a. For now Im into skateboard filming and I was just curious, which of the two cameras would go with? Im also looking for a camera that I might be able to do shorts with and what not...is there a huge difference in the two? From my research there doesnt seem to be, but I just want some professional opinions.

Thank you guys, Im sure this question has been asked 27492847923847928 times, so bear with me.

Well what if I came across a 100 with lower hours than the A does this even matter? Ive heard DVX's can go 1000 hours before they need a tune-up...is this true?

Well the 100 may have lower hours but may also be a year or two older. Check the mfrg date on it. Also with the A you can use gain in 24p (good for your skate videos shot at night in 24p with no lighting) and the mech zoom is dampened as well as 14 or so more features.

The most important thing with buying used cameras is:
1) Hand inspection of all functions (zoom dial, focus ring, menus, recording quality, playback, audio inputs, no scratches on lens)
2) Confidence in the camera's history (was it used in a lot of desert/beach filming?)
3) Knowing the owner/company and trusting that person/entity
4) Getting some kind of money back guarantee for a few days at least

That said, any of the DVXs can give you better performance than most cameras in their current price range, especially used :)

Yeah I had noticed the gain in 24p when reading some reviews and that was swaying me towards the A, but thank you guys so much, you have convinced me.

1 more question..how many hours is too many on a used DVX100a

The difference between the 100 and 100a is huge. The color and film look is far superior on the 100a.

Totally not true. LOL. The difference isn't very big at all. In fact, personally I like the feel of the 100 the best.

I also thought i read somewhere that the B didn't have timelapse. So I went over to look at my buddy's DVXB(just bought one) and the timelapse option was all there!

was this misinformation during production time? am i too late?
