DVX100 - Snoqualmie - Twin Peaks

thought it looked great as always. and i for one don't think i know the camera well enough to get this kind of result.

about the trains, i think the first shot could defintively fit in it.

great job

Here's what the opening shot looked like before I did some significant post production work:

disjecta loves to be worshiped.

I'm sure that if disjecta loved to be worshiped he would have moved on to subjects other than what interests him most. Disjecta is a nature filmmaker, whose films are about nature and more specifically its aesthetic. This is a noble artistic calling, however it is not a subject which will typically earn worship. I'd in fact be much more inclined to believe that a worship (or perhaps just an attention) seeker would be instead attempting to create something conscientiously "poetic" or "deep", perhaps with the influences of an obscure Russian director (whose name the worship seeking director drops frequently, so as to an establish an intellectual rift).

Thats just what I think. And if a a few "atta boys" and "great jobs" get you that jealous, just post your films- it seems as though people liked your stills- come get some of this love. Unless of course you think you've talked yourself up to much.

And Disjecta- Beautiful Stuff- I just finished TPs a couple weeks ago and some of your shots were better than the stuff in there. As a criticism there was a shaky tilt up that also had a moving car in the background. I found that distracting. Keep up the good work.

For one, I always enjoy seeing a new disjecta film. He certainly doesn't deserve the personal attack that has been recently made against him in regards to motivation. I had no problem seeing criticism of him in regards to his work...there will always be naysayers. But when a certain person stooped to a personal attack against disjecta's motives for posting work here, the line was crossed.

Disjecta has continually contributed to this community with help, with technical advice, with suggestions, and with encouragement. He is a positive force here, and he shares his hobby and his talents with others. Unlike another poster who seems to have to resort to personal attacks when faced with the community response that they themselves caused.

Kudos to disjecta, I always look forward to a new piece from him.

Thanks for all the positive and constructive remarks.

Also thanks to those coming to my defense although it is really not necessary. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. That's the beauty of a forum like this.

I've made some changes to the edit based on a gut feeling and some comments in this thread. I've also created a better looking file although the compression is still obvious in the water scenes but not as bad as before.

When I have a chance, I'll look over all the posts again and make sure I address any questions. Thanks.

Beautiful as always!
When I saw the very first version of the "Waters Edge" (I still prefer the first one), I felt like watching the beginning of a Redford movie. That's still how I feel when I see your work.
Do you still use the same camera settings (chroma = 4, pedestal = -5 if I remember)?

Man, Coltrain talk sh*t again? Oh and by the way, your grabs weren't that great in my opinion. Just being honest. Anyhow, Disjecta, Mr. National Geographic. One word baby, TIGHT! <---- that's a compliment just in case you didn't know.

I smell a Thread Jack

Love this version even better (even though I'm listening with Twin Peaks going on). You have some super cool coloring; a few shots remind me of the Peter Jackson KING KONG look; no really ask me and I'll tell you the exact shots

D if you ever allow an MPEG 2 version let me know as I'd love to watch this FullScreen on the Flatscreen

I love the train still and the little duckies (Can we call them duckies?) as they are 'swept' away into the current.

In fact; as I write this I realize how inane any negative comments really are. I cannot even fathom how anyone would look at the D Man's work and say anything derogatory other than "When I was a child I got lost in the woods........."

I am always in awe of the imagery D Man catches with the camera; anyone who thinks these are simple shots on some sticks and a byproduct of the enviroment is absurd and "anyone (maybe) in this forum can do this" and "10% ability" is just naive and and myopic.

Really. Insulting and appalling to even think someone would have anything negative to say at all; except for the TWIN PEAKS version still missing.

Bravo D. Always a pleasure watching your work. I'll worship D anytime; especially when I need B camera of the sorrounding areas.

Disjecta-

Looking good. Although I did think the Thomas shot was a little out of place. It was well shot, and looked great, but the "toy" train just did not feel right for the mood of the piece. Maybe it would work better if you had some Lynchian music as others have suggested. It would make that shot more erie.

Question for you: The music you use, are you having to pay the $75ish dollars each time you use the music, or does your original fee cover the use again? I've been looking into using that library and it looks great, just wondering about the licensing of it. Any input would be great.
