I suspect that all depends on what you mean by 'out of date'. If you mean by 'out of date' that the DVX100B will not longer be supported by Panasonic, then others may be able to shed light on this.
If you mean 'obsolete', then this totally depends, I believe, on you and what you hope to achieve with the camera. If you are enamored, as I am, with the look that the DVX can provide then only when you no longer like the look will it be obsolete. You may get a new camera someday- an HVX or a RED- but if you still love the look that your DVX can give you, it won't be 'out of date'; rather it will be another tool in your image-capturing arsenal.
The DVX100B will be around for quite a few years, HD technology is changing a lot and it will not be a standard for quite some time. Just look at P2 cards, a few years ago it was 8gig max on the cards now its 32gig.
If you are thinking about the change from analog to digital it does not mean that everything is going HD, because its not SD is still todays standard.
IMO HD has a few years to go before it takes over SD video.
"Out of date" meaning obsolete, I think SD will have its place for at least a bunch of years.
"Out of date" meaning a useful piece of equipment that you can get parts for, your time is now. Rid yourself of the DVX before you get stuck with a camera you can't get parts for.
