Hey,

I wanted to know specifically if anyone had any info on the prism quality of the DVX100 vs the DVX100A. The A was upgraded with a better prism for color reproduction, did anyone do any tests to see the real world differences, if any. I have an opportunity to get a nice DVX100 original and this is the only thing I am a bit concered over. I have used a friends DVX100A since it was released and it was a great camera. I cant find any specific info for this, so if anyone has some info it would be great. Barry you know the DVX extensively, so any insight would be great! I realize the diferences will not be huge, but would love to know.

Thanks Everyone!

this is a topic that comes up every time.
use the search function and you should find out why you are getting such great deal.
Hey,
I have an opportunity to get a nice DVX100 original

I havn't use the original (100) before but optically they should be the same.
but the extra functions they add on the 100 to 100a is huge.
from 100a to 100b is minor.

the biggest difference for me is the cine mode and squeez mode.(100 doesn't have it)
I use that all the time.
bottom line, it is a dvx so it's a great camera that shoots great image.

Hey, thanks for the response. I am aware of all the other differences and know the question is asked many times about the 100P vs. 100AP. My question was specifically about the differences between the prism's of the two, which nobody has directly discussed, aside from the general fact that there is a different prism in the A model for better color reproduction and less flaring. I was hoping someone has worked with both and could give me some feedback from their observations about this issue.

Thanks!

There's a change to the prism, yes, and you can find people who prefer each of the models of DVX. Lots seem to think the 100A was the sweet spot, but I think it's noisier and I prefer the 100B.

Thanks for the insight Barry. Each one has its once specific quality and tone, and It's a personal opinion, I understand.

Thanks Again!
