DVX100 Prices in Canada compared to US?

Why are the DVX100 prices in Canada so much higher than the US? I looked around the web in Canada for a new DVX and I found $4800 CDN was the cheapest I could find one for (and ended up buying). I did see cheaper deals in the US, but I worried about warranty in Canada.

So whats with the price differences?

Aren't all Canadian prices higher than American prices? If you get a DVX from America (which I would suggest) You could send it for servicing in Minnesota, or somewhere near the border.

The Exchange rate was a lot higher before. You can get a US one for about a grand less then buying here right now (with the current rate)

As for warranty I would assume you would be ok but better ask someone better informed on that one.

Yes.. after the exchange, the pricing in Canada always seemed to be $500 or more higher.

I thought of your idea, but I worried more about the difficulties in finding a reputable place, had the need for repair present itself.

This situation is no different than the Sony GV-D1000. At the sonystyle.com site it sells for $1299.00. At sonystyle.ca its price is $2199.00 $1300 USD at 1.3 exchange rate is like $1700.00 CDN

The higher prices in Canada makes me wonder who's pocketing the differences (which can be substantial).

The difference gets distributed to everyone in America in the form of tax breaks. ;)
