DVX100 Parts

I have been having some problems with the Panasonics Parts dept, they asked me a month ago how to spell XLR when I was looking for a new jack, enought said there. Now I am looking for a new PC Board w/ Component part number vep000y3b. They say it is discontinued but I am sure there is a replacement, does anyone know what that replacement might be?

Sensitive topic on this board.

The short answer is you need to explore component level repairs for your bad board.

Keeping in mind...if one component has gone bad on the board, more are sure to follow.

Yes, the boards have been discontinued. If Panasonic doesn't have any available, you have some decisions to make about the future of your camera if and when you get it repaired.

Thanks for the info, I will have to do some back reading in this forum. I find these parts issues a major concern for both me and anyone looking into purchasing a Panasonic camera and I hope Panasonic is listing. If I had purchased one of the worst cameras of all time, I might understand not being able to get parts after 3 years. However the DVX must at least be one of the top 5 best-selling "Prosumer" cameras EVER. How are replacement parts not still available? I have had many Sony's (VX2000, PD150, PD100, PD170, Z1U) I have never once had a problem getting my Sonys repaired. I have had a few Canons (GL2, XL1, XL1s, A1) and they might need service a tad more but their service is fantastic. Unfortunately we are hard on equipment so we spend a lot on repair. I have found the DVX to be a very delicate camera. I had already relegated it to studio use only but it could not even handle that, the XLR jack broke.

I basically have a $1500 camera that needs a $60 part that without it I have a paperweight. That is unconscionable to me. I hope that people out there there are trying to make their Panny, Canon, Sony decision take Panasonic's lack of replacement parts past 3 years into consideration. I know this has illuminated Panasonic from any of the network that I work for or my own future purchases. I have a couple of Canon A1's that I just beat the tar out of on a trip to rural China and they did not even flinch. I have a PD150 with close to 5000 hours and it works great. This Panny has less than 150 hours on it...I don't even remember, it has been at the repair shop since June, yes, almost 6 months because I can't get parts! Ridiculous!!

Does anyone have DVX they are parting out? I am looking for a PC Board w/ Component part number vep000y3b for a DVX100a. Judging by my recent dealings with Panasonic I think I am going to go into the DVX parts business, I can't do any worse than Panasonic does.

These folks list the part for sale...

But I don't know how reliable they are. Worth a call at the very least.

Here's a second company to check with but the part is not in stock at present...but will be soon.

The up side is I have personal experience with this company, Union Electronics.

When I was freelancing in Central America for ten years, they are the ones I would order component parts for my Sony Betacam from.

They were fast and reliable to deal with. Never a problem and friendly/helpful.

Good luck!

Because I haven't got an answer in my topic about a blueprint for the DVX100, want to ask that here aswell.
As you can read in my thread under "technical", I got a problem with the screwthread for tripods. It has gone inside the camera and I need to take that part out so it wont damage the zoomwheels.
Now, I don't know how to open the camera from the bottom and I don't want to risk doing damage, so I need a blueprint or a a "blown" map of all the parts of a DVX100.

How do I get inside the camera from this end???

I can't get the stupid part from Panasonic's Pro Video site but I can from a kitchen appliance store. Perfect! Panasonic's department has asked me in the past how to spell XLR so I guess this is par for the course.
