I've been trying to order a DVX100BE from the UK, but it seems everwhere is out of stock until mid September. This has got me thinking about other possible cams. I can get a very good deal on a JVC HD100 for instance. And not for that much more than the DVX.
THE DVX100(be)
The most important thing to me is to recreate as closely as possible the "film" look, which as you all know is a highly praised feature of the DVX100 series. Still, the DVX doesn't have brilliant DoF apparently, which may work against it considering you can't use it with different lenses.
THE HD100 (first JVC model)
Conversely, the HD100 offers 24P/25P modes, plus cine-look filters, native 16:9, HD (and SD), plus interchangeable lenses. Many very useful features I would say.
But importantly, is the HD100 better than the DVX100 at recreating the natural film look? And if not, is it still a better buy when you consider that it seems to be effectively future-proofed?
Thanks very much in advance,
J
