Users,
I was using my my dvx100 this weekend shooting green screen footage outdoors because of the overcast. The camera sat mounted on a jib for 45 minutes to an hour in 30-40 degree weather. Monitoring it on a tv i noticed alot of vertical fuzz, more than average noise in the picture, and what looking like ghosting of colors left to right. I turned the camera off, turned it back on, and the problems diminished to some degree. Is this the cold or do i have bigger problems to worry about?

Hey -- I bundled up my dvx100 in a thick sweatshirt (really - lens out the neck, external mike out one arm...) and shot for quite a long time outside in the teens (F). I was probably out there long enough that the camera got pretty cold. I'm not sure you should see this problem from the cold - this was after you had been there awhile, not right away, right?

yeah you can also buy a rainjacket type thing and gaff tape one of those chemical hand warmers to the battery, should help.

Actually the camera had been left in its Kata case outside for about an hour before hand by one of the crew.(just informed about this) When I use it now there (4 days later, inside for all 4)everything seems to be normal. BTW How would I check S/N ratio in the picture properly? IE not eyeballing it but actually hooking it up to a piece of equipment....would i use a vectorscope, waveform etc , any ideas?

Weird...I've run into problems with the footage being ridden with dropouts from having been in the cold too long...but exempting the dropout aspect, the footage was clean.
