I am looking to buy the Panasonic dvx100b's mic holder, its missing it. On their website, there mic adapter and holder together is $130+ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there any cheaper alternative to buying a mic holder for my boom mic?

$130 seems a bit extreme for what it is. Mine didn't come with a mic holder either but I'm willing to bet that there is someone on here that doesn't need theirs anymore. I say post a wanted thread.

$130 may not be too crazy considering parts prices these days. You can see if we can get the parts for any less by calling Emily at 1-800-359-1858 or email her at emilyh@spec-comm.com

I have one, brand new and never used. I got it with my DVX100B when I bought it last year and have never even taken it out of its original package.

Make me an offer.

Shock mount for DVX

I was in the same boat when I bought my camera - no shotgun mic holder (previous owner probably lost it) I also have a friend with a DVX whose mic mount snapped off.. Wasn't ready to shell out $100+ for a piece of plastic, so I started looking for an aftermarket one...

After searching for a few weeks, I finally gave up and built one out of aluminum.. I know a lot of people on the forum seem to frown on DIY shock mounts, but I am happy with the performance and the aesthetics of it. Just shot an outdoor wedding with it, and despite the wind it performed well.

I'm mildly interested in improving the design and producing a few more to sell, but not sure if there's enough interest in an actual camera shock mount over the more streamlined plastic loop that comes with the camera...

Thanks Don - It took a few hours to design and make the prototype, but it works better for me than just a hotshoe mounted mic bracket (which I tried and didn't really like). Need to put it through a few more shooting sessions to see how I can improve it, and how much isolation it really offers.
